HC Deb 09 June 1913 vol 53 cc1253-4
71. Mr. GODFREY LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he has received a resolution, passed unanimously at the recent meeting of secretaries of Forester' courts, asking him to provide in the forthcoming National Insurance Act Amending Bill that the sum provided for administration under the Act should be increased from 3s. 8d. to 4s., the sum of 3s. 8d. having proved to be inadequate; and whether he proposes to give effect to this resolution?

Mr. MASTERMAN

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The maximum amount that may be carried to the administration account is not laid down in the Act, but is fixed by Regulations of the Insurance Commissioners, who have as yet received no proof that societies cannot be efficiently administered with the sums now available.
