HC Deb 05 June 1913 vol 53 c1027
27. Sir WILLIAM BYLES

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his Department is kept informed of the resistance shown by the population of New Zealand to the compulsory service law; whether out of the population of the Dominion boys are being prosecuted at the rate of 200 a week for breaches of the conscription law; and whether, having regard to the movement for a similar law in this country, some official figures and suitable statement of the working of the law in our Dominions can be issued to the House?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Harcourt)

I have no information as to the number of prosecutions under the New Zealand Defence Acts of more recent date than that referred to in the answer to my hon. Friend's question of 4th December last. An annual Report is presented to the New Zealand Parliament, and it will be available here.
