HC Deb 29 July 1913 vol 56 c267
11. Mr. F. HALL

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if the cost of valuation and collection in connection with the land taxes under the Finance (1909–10) Act, 1910, down to 31st March, 1913, amounted to £1,356,000 and the revenue to £223,430, or if he will state the correct figures; if he can give the estimated figures under these heads for the three years to 31st March, 1916; and if he is yet in a position to state by what year the revenue from these taxes will equal or exceed the expenditure?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Lloyd George)

As regards the cost of the valuation and the yield of the Land Value Duties to 31st March, 1913, I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to the hon. Member for Chelmsford on 28th April last. As regards the remainder of the question, the answer is in the negative.

Mr. F. HALL

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman if his anticipations at the time he produced the Budget of 1909 have been realised with regard to these Land Taxes?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

That does not arise out of this question, but I shall be happy to discuss the point on the Revenue Bill later on.
