HC Deb 17 July 1913 vol 55 c1445
Mr. NOEL BUXTON

I beg to ask the secretary of State for Foreign Affairs a question, of which I have given him private notice: Whether the violation of the Enos Media frontier by the Turkish troops is in contravention of the principle laid down by him on 14th July?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Acland)

I adhere to the statement made on Monday evening, which I believe to be in accordance with the views of other Governments. These views have been expressed at Constantinople by us. I cannot say more than that, and the only information I have at present as to Turkish movements is the statement made by Bulgaria, which is in the Press.

Mr. MORRELL

May I ask whether that was not the frontier settled by the Great Powers, and whether there is not at least as much reason on the part of the Great Powers to insist upon this frontier as there was in the case of the frontier between Montenegro and Albania?

Mr. ACLAND

That is very controversial, and my right hon. Friend has just asked the hon. Gentleman who had a similar question addressed to him, to put it on the Paper for Monday. If my hon. Friend would do the same I should be glad.
