HC Deb 17 July 1913 vol 55 c1437
87. Mr. MACPHERSON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has received and considered the resolution of the town council of Invergordon, Ross-shire, asking him to consider the unsatisfactory working of the harbour at Invergordon; and whether, in view of the fact that the harbour is now becoming important from a national point of view, he will direct that an inquiry be held as to its control and working?

Mr. BUXTON

I have received a copy of a resolution adopted by the town council of Invergordon at a meeting held on the 7th April last, requesting the Board of Trade to institute an inquiry into the condition and working of the harbour at that place, with a view to ascertaining whether it fulfils the requirements of the district. I have invited the observations of the proprietors of the harbour in the matter, and I will communicate further with my hon. Friend when I am in a position to do so.
