HC Deb 17 July 1913 vol 55 cc1463-4
Mr. BONAR LAW

May I ask the Prime Minister what business he proposes to take next week, and also may I call his attention to the fact that the terms of the Financial Resolution to be taken to-morrow are not upon the Paper?

The PRIME MINISTER

On Monday, the Irish Land Purchase Bill will be introduced, and, by arrangement, the Report of the Money Resolution on the Insurance Bill will be taken.

On Tuesday, we shall propose a Motion suspending the Eleven o'clock Rule for the rest of the Session. Thereafter, the Education Bill will be introduced. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday we shall take Supply. With regard to the Money Resolution to be taken to-morrow the right hon. Gentleman knows it has never been the custom to give notice of these Resolutions.

Mr. BONAR LAW

It was done before.

The PRIME MINISTER

Yes, the right hon. Gentleman the Chancellor of the Exchequer did it, but it is an entirely new thing. I think, however, the request is a reasonable one. It will be on the Paper to-morrow and will be available to-night.

Mr. BONAR LAW

When does the right hon. Gentleman propose there should be a discussion upon the Imperial Wireless chain; and when will the Papers be laid?

The PRIME MINISTER

We hope the Papers will be laid upon the Table by Monday or Tuesday.

Sir JOHN LONSDALE

Is it the Government's intention to give the whole of.Monday to the Irish Land Bill?

The PRIME MINISTER

Yes; but we lope afterwards to take the Report stage of the Money Resolution after Eleven o'clock.

Sir WILLIAM BYLES

What subjects will be taken in Supply in these days mentioned by the right hon. Gentleman? I wish to know especially whether the Home Office Vote and the Colonial Office Vote will be discussed?

The PRIME MINISTER

I will say on Monday.

Major ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

Will the right hon. Gentleman also state on Monday when the Scottish Estimates will again be taken?

The PRIME MINISTER

Yes, Sir. I shall make a general statement.

Mr. CASSEL

May I ask in reference to the Finance Bill, whether Income Tax is not now being collected under a Resolution of Ways and Means, and that was sanctioned by Parliament on the distinct understanding that the Finance Bill should be passed at an earlier period of the Session?

The PRIME MINISTER

Yes, Sir, that is well understood.

Mr. JAMES HOPE

Will the Second Reading of the Revenue Bill be taken before the Finance Bill in Committee?

The PRIME MINISTER

I said I would make a statement on Monday.

Mr. PONSONBY

Will a day be given for the discussion of the Report of the Committee on Imperial Defence?

The PRIME MINISTER

Yes, if it is so desired.
