HC Deb 17 July 1913 vol 55 c1432
82. Mr. F. HALL

asked the President of the Board of Education whether professors of Bristol University can be dismissed at a meeting of council attended by eight members, the dismissal to take effect if an appeal to the court is not lodged within one month; and whether the Advisory Committee to the Board of Education recommended that no professor should be dismissed whose case has not been considered by the senate or academic body?

Mr. TREVELYAN

I have no information as to the first part of the question. Certain general considerations in regard to the tenure and status of professors are set out in paragraph 12 of the Report of the Advisory Committee, dated March, 1912. I do not know whether the practice at Bristol is in accord with the views so expressed.
