HC Deb 23 January 1913 vol 47 c595
34. Mr. ROBINSON

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if the circum stances surrounding the death of John Haydn Davies, of Tongoa Islands, New Hebrides, on the island of Epi, have come under his notice; whether the doctor gave a certificate for burial without examining the body, stating that heart failure was the cause of death, in spite of wounds which pointed to murder; and whether, in the interests and for the protection of British subjects in that region, he will cause full inquiry to be made into the matter?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Harcourt)

I have no official information as to this case, but have asked the High Commissioner to furnish a report on the subject.
