HC Deb 23 January 1913 vol 47 cc607-8
28. Mr. GINNELL

asked the Chief Secretary, seeing that in the form of Return of salaried officials in Ireland the automatic increases and the future pensions are absent from the form now on the Order Paper, and that, each department having already got the names and particulars of its own salaried officials, a Return of them all must be easily made and is desirable in this standard financial year, whether, on reconsideration, he will grant the Return; and, if not, will he indicate the form in which he would consent to grant it?

Mr. BIRRELL

I have nothing to add to my previous replies to the hon. Member's questions on this subject.

Mr. GINNELL

Why does the right hon. Gentleman refuse this Return, seeing that the points to which he objected in the previous form have been omitted in this?

Mr. BIRRELL

The objection I have to it is really that the information which would be elicited by a Return in this form is really not worth the cost and trouble.
