HC Deb 23 January 1913 vol 47 cc588-9
13. Captain CRAIG

asked the Chief Secretary what was the date of the meeting of the Board of National Education in the minutes whereof it is recorded that the Board considered a memorial addressed to that body, in which evidence was set forth in disproof of twenty statements furnished by their officials for use in Parliament; and the date of the meeting of the Board in the minutes whereof it is recorded that the Board authorised the issue of the reply of 11th July, 1910, that the Commissioners had no reason to believe that any of the official information had been at variance with facts?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Commissioners of National Education inform me that they are not in a position to make a statement as to the first part of the question unless the date of the memorial referred to and the names of the persons signing it are furnished. A copy of the hon. and gallant Member's question for 11th July, 1910, and of the official statement furnished in reply thereto were sent to each Commissioner on 8th July, 1910, with the agenda for the meeting of the Board on 12th July. The question and statement were formally submitted at that meeting and entered on the minutes.
