HC Deb 16 January 1913 vol 46 c2248
52. Mr. NEWMAN

asked whether any officials in the Local Government Board or other branches of the Civil Service are or have been lately employed, encouraged, or allowed to draw up special and secret reports on land and housing conditions in the United Kingdom; and, if so, whether he will say from what sources the expenses incurred in the drawing up of such reports, including the cost of photo graphing residences deemed undesirable for human habitation, or of sites for which excessive rent is being demanded, will be reimbursed to such Civil servants?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am not aware what instructions are or have been given by Ministers to the officials of their Departments, and have no information as to any such reports. The question should be addressed to the Minister of the Department concerned.
