HC Deb 15 January 1913 vol 46 c2080
Sir A. SPICER

I desire to ask the Postmaster-General a question of which I have given him private notice, whether the Government have considered the Special Report of the Marconi Committee, and, if so, what action they propose to take?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

Consideration has been given to the recommendations contained in the Special Report, namely, that steps should be taken tat once to secure sites for the stations; and secondly, that in view, especially of what has been stated to the Committee as to the developments that are said to have taken place in wireless telegraphy during the past few months, a scientific committee should be appointed and instructed to present, within three months, a report on the merits of existing systems. These recommendations, in their present form, substantially meet the representations which were made to the Committee on behalf of the Government, and the Government will be glad to give immediate effect to them.
