HC Deb 15 January 1913 vol 46 c2078
62. Mr. HORNER

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture whether he will consider the desirability of making some permanent use of the Foreign Animals Wharf at Deptford for the receipt and marketing of Irish cattle; whether he is aware that such utilisation would not only be of value to the Irish cattle trade, but would increase employment in the neighbourhood; and whether he will communicate with the Corporation of London on the subject?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The Foreign Animals Wharf at Deptford is at the present time in use for the landing of fat stock for Ireland for slaughter at the wharf. The Board have been in communication with the Corporation of London for some weeks past, and I hope that satisfactory permanent arrangements may soon be made for the landing of Irish stock of all kinds at Deptford.
