§ 49. Mr. CHARLES DUNCANasked whether several assurance agents at Tod-morden, employed by the Prudential Assurance Company, have been discharged for publishing a protest against alleged irregularities and illegalities in the methods adopted by the supervisory staff of the company in the Todmorden district for obtaining assurance business; whether he is aware that complaints of this nature are not confined to Todmorden but are widespread; and whether, if sufficient evidence is placed before him as to the need, he is prepared to consider the advisability of setting up an inquiry into industrial assurance?
Mr. BUXTONI have been asked by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister to answer this question. I have no information as to the facts stated in my hon. Friend's question, but if he will furnish me with evidence of the illegal acts referred to, I shall be pleased to consider whether the matter is one in which any action should be taken by the Board of Trade.
