HC Deb 01 January 1913 vol 46 c365
70. Sir PHILIP MAGNUS

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether the presidents and professors of the University Colleges of Cork and Galway are within the provisions of either Clause 32 or Clause 33 of the Government of Ireland Bill; if not, whether there is any, and, if so, what provision in the Bill safeguarding the position of such presidents and professors and securing to them adequate compensation on retirement, compulsory or otherwise, arising out of the creation of a separate Irish Parliament and Executive; and, if the Bill contains no such provision, whether he will now insert Amendments to give such protection to the presidents and professors of those colleges?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Bill does not alter the position of the presidents and professors of the University Colleges of Cork and Galway, and there is, therefore, no reason why the Civil Service provisions should be extended to them.
