Mr. GODFREY LOCKER-LAMPSONasked the Postmaster-General, with reference to the Amendment he proposes to Clause 2 of the Government of Ireland Bill, whether it is intended that the Imperial Post Office should employ its own officials in Ireland to maintain and work telegraph and telephone wires not used for the internal system of communication between one place in Ireland and another such place, or for any service which is executed completely in Ireland; and, if not, how it is intended to maintain and work such wires?
§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUELThe answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The telegraph and telephone service, both for internal and external communication, would be worked by officers of the Irish Post Office.
