Mr. BARNESasked the Secretary to the Treasury if he is aware that many persons in Scotland have applied for sick benefit, in accordance with the terms of the National Insurance Act, for whom no benefit has yet been forthcoming from the head office; is he aware that indignation has been expressed at the dilatory methods of the authorities; and will he 1179 make inquiry and see that the cash payments are at once made to those entitled to them?
§ Mr. MASTERMANI have no knowledge of any such delay as is suggested on the part of approved societies in Scotland in paying sickness benefit to their members, but if my hon. Friend will give me information as to any particular case, with the name of the society concerned, I will have inquiries made.
