REESasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether Indian students at Edinburgh University have protested against the proposal to 686 put them under official supervision; and, if so, what action has been taken on such protest; whether the permanent retention of the staff associated with Mr. Arnold and Mr. Mallet is contemplated; and whether the unofficial members of the Indian Legislative Councils have expressed their opinions on the need for the expenditure involved?
Mr. BAKERAs regards the first part of the question I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave my hon. Friend the Member for East Edinburgh yesterday. The answer to the second part of the question is in the affirmative. No such expression of opinion as is referred to in the last part of the question has been brought to the Secretary of State's notice.
