HC Deb 04 February 1913 vol 47 c1975
30. Mr. MUNRO

asked whether the Report of the Commission which is inquiring, inter alia, into the question of loans for fishermen will be presented before the Parliamentary Recess?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

Every effort is being made by the Committee to expedite the issue of their Report, but I do not think that it can be presented before the Parliamentary Recess. As my hon. Friend recognises, the question of loans to fishermen is only one of those with which the Committee have to deal, and some of the others necessitate correspondence with foreign countries, which takes a considerable amount of time.

Mr. MUNRO

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that great dissatisfaction exists in fishing circles in Scotland with regard to the delay, and will he use his good offices with the Commission to speed up their Report?

Mr. ROBERT HARCOURT

Owing to the fact that this Commission has now been sitting for sixteen months does the right hon. Gentleman not think it advisable to issue an interim Report?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

I think the Commission are so forward with their Report that it is not necessary to have an interim Report.
