HC Deb 29 April 1913 vol 52 cc971-2
8. Mr. FREDERICK HALL (Dulwich)

asked the Secretary of State for War if his attention has been called to the statement recently made by the First Sea Lord as to the imperative necessity for an efficient force of professional soldiers to supplement the work of the Navy in defending the country against invasion; if any communications on the subject have passed between the War Office and the Admiralty; and if he can state what steps it is proposed to take to remedy the present condition of affairs?

Colonel SEELY

I cannot undertake to deal with this subject within the limits of an answer to a question.

Mr. F. HALL

Cannot the right hon. Gentleman give me any reply to the question?

Colonel SEELY

Yes, I can give a very full reply on the proper occasion. That will be in the course of a debate, for which an occasion will arise shortly.
