asked whether the promised Regulations giving fuller information to county councils with regard to Treasury deductions from Grants-in-Aid to local taxation will be laid upon the Table before final adoption, and an opportunity given for discussing them, and at what date?

Mr. BIRRELL

I am not aware of any promise regarding regulations dealing with the matter referred to in the hon. Member's question.

Mr. P. WHITE

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that he has already promised the county councils that he would get full information?

Mr. BIRRELL

I am endeavouring to do so, but I am not aware of any promise with regard to the regulations.
