HC Deb 28 April 1913 vol 52 c780
13. Mr. FELL

asked why the claim of Messrs. Richard Irvin and Sons, Limited, for damages to twenty-four nets of the steam drifter "Try" YH. 777, occasioned on the 18th July last, about twenty-eight miles from Tynemouth, by two of His Majesty's battleships and two destroyers has not been settled; and if claims for other losses of net at about the same time and place occasioned in the same manœuvres have been already admitted and paid?

Dr. MACNAMARA

Exhaustive inquiries were made, but it could not be established that any of His Majesty's ships were in the position mentioned by the fishermen as the scene of the damage at the time the damage is said to have occurred. Additional information has, however, been furnished by the owners within the last few days, and further inquiries are being made. Claims for other losses of nets off the North-East Coast during the manœuvres have been admitted, but the positions and times in those cases do not correspond with the particulars furnished by the master of the "Try."

Mr. FELL

Shall I put down another question later on?

Dr. MACNAMARA

I shall inform the hon. Member directly.
