80. Mr. SILVESTER HORNEasked the Home Secretary what decision he has come to in regard to the French Protestant Church in Soho Square; and whether, seeing that the services have been conducted in this church in the French language for 350 years, and in view of the 40 provisions of the charter, he will consider the desirability, in the best interests of those for whom the use of the existing property was intended, of providing that the pastor should be chosen by all the members of the congregation and not by a majority of the consistory, who do not understand the French language?
§ Mr. McKENNAThis matter has come before me on a petition from the congregation, and I have received representations both from the congregation and the majority of the consistory. I am not satisfied that the church is being administered in accordance with the intentions of the charter, and I am now considering what steps I should take.
