HC Deb 14 April 1913 vol 51 c1784

Motion made and Question proposed, "That this House do now adjourn."—[Mr. Gulland.]

Mr. NORTON-GRIFFITHS

I desire to make a personal statement. I have just seen a Report of the proceedings of the Marconi Committee to the effect that Mr. Godfrey Isaacs stated that he heard that I had spread rumours about Ministers with a view to assisting the Poulsen Company in opposing the confirmation of the Marconi Company. It is absolutely untrue that I have ever had any interest in the Poulsen Company or even had any communication with that Company. Neither have I spread any rumours of any sort or kind about Ministers. The whole story is an invention, and I have requested the Chairman to call me before the Committee to repeat this statement on oath. I have never even spoken to the hon. Member for Finsbury (Major Archer-Shee) on the matter, and it is absurd to suggest that we have conspired together in the matter.
