HC Deb 31 October 1912 vol 43 cc564-5
71. Colonel YATE

asked how many of the 138,121 British emigrants who left the United Kingdom for Canada during the twelve months from 1st April, 1911, to 31st March, 1912, were men and how many were women?

Mr. BUXTON

I am unable to supply the information desired by the hon. Member, as the Report of the Canadian Superintendent of Immigration for 1911–12, in which the particulars will presumably be included, has not yet been received in this country. From the Report for 1910–11, however, it appears that of the 123,013 British immigrants arriving in the Dominion in that year, 65,478 were male adults and 35,255 were female adults, the remainder being children, whose sexes are not shown separately in the Report.
