HC Deb 28 October 1912 vol 43 c36
76. Mr. ROWLANDS

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been called to the statement of the magistrate at the South-Western police court, on the 23rd October, to the effect that some pistols were now being made with long barrels which rendered the Pistols Act quite useless; and whether he intends to introduce legislation to strengthen the Act?

Mr. McKENNA

I have seen a report of the case referred to. A Bill has been propared to deal with this and other defects in the law relating to pistols, but I regret that I see no possibility of legislating on the subject this Session.

Mr. ROWLANDS

In view of the urgency of the matter, if it were found that it would be considered a non-contentious measure, would the Government be prepared to introduce such a Bill immediately?

Mr. McKENNA

I shall have to consult with the Prime Minister before I answer that question.
