HC Deb 28 October 1912 vol 43 c30
61. Mr. MULDOON

asked the Postmaster-General whether the Post Office authorities undertook early this year to establish a telegraph and telephone office at Meriane Bridge Post Office, county Cork; whether the required guarantee was forthcoming; and, seeing that the survey and other preliminaries were completed several months ago, will he say how long it will be before this service is established?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The guarantee deed for the extension of the telegraph system to Meraine Bridge w7as signed in May last, but before the wires could be erected it was necessary to obtain way-leaves and to give notice to the public, as required by law. A wayleave consent from the Cork County Council is at present awaited. When that is received I hope that the line will be completed in about a month's time.
