HC Deb 23 October 1912 vol 42 c2161
1. Colonel YATE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether the Government will now take into consideration the question of the advisability of arming the vessels of the Royal Indian Marine, to enable them to take their share in police and patrol work in the Persian Gulf and Indian Seas?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. H. Baker)

The whole question of the future of the Royal Indian Marine has been under investigation by a Committee the Report of which is now under the consideration of the Government of India. Until that Report and the recommendations of the Government of India reach the Secretary of State, the question of arming the vessels cannot be considered.
