HC Deb 23 October 1912 vol 42 c2183
59. Mr. HICKS BEACH

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has received any communications from bodies of seamen urging him to re-establish the old Plimsoll line; and, if so, whether he contemplates taking any action in the matter?

70. Sir HILDRED CARLILE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will consider the advisability of instituting an inquiry into the results of the alteration in the Plimsoll line?

Mr. ROBERTSON

The Board have received copies of resolutions on the subject to which the hon. Member refers which have been passed by various branches of the Dock, Wharf, Riverside, and General Workers' Union; and, as my right hon. Friend has already stated, the question whether any action in the matter should be taken by the Board of Trade is being carefully considered in connection with the findings of the Court of Inquiry into the loss of the s.s. "North Briton."
