HC Deb 23 October 1912 vol 42 c2169
20. Mr. HICKS BEACH

asked what means are taken to expedite the valuations for Estate Duty cases; and are instructions given for their completion at the earliest possible moment, with priority over all other valuations?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

Estate Duty cases are regarded as valuations to be dealt with promptly. It is, however, impossible at the present time to give them priority over all other valuations without adding considerably to the time and cost of the original valuation. They are made concurrently with the provisional valuations for the same properties, and in determining the order in which the original valuation is proceeded with the existence of an Estate Duty case is a factor.
