HC Deb 16 October 1912 vol 42 cc1209-10
26. Mr. FELL

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, if the £100 a year allowed as a deduction for Income Tax from the salaries of Members of Parliament is also allowed to the Members of the Government who receive salaries as Ministers of the Crown and do not draw salaries as Members of Parliaments?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

The answer is in the negative.

Mr. FELL

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman if the Members on the Front Bench do not incur expenses in travelling, the same as other Members of the House?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

Up to the present they have made no claim; they are willing to sacrifice them.

Earl WINTERTON

Do they not sometimes travel to Gaddesby?

Mr. SPEAKER

I would remind the Noble Lord there are 107 questions on the Paper.
