HC Deb 16 October 1912 vol 42 c1229
18. Mr. COURTHOPE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will issue Health Insurance stamps of the value of 6s. 6d. and 7s. 7d. in order that, in the case of wages and salaries paid quarterly, only one stamp may be required?

Mr. MASTERMAN

Health Insurance stamps, representing thirteen contributions, are being supplied to employers who have adopted the system of bulk stamping with a preliminary deposit. Such stamps would only be of use for other employers if these were prepared to pay the contributions in advance, or if the date of payment of wages coincided approximately with the end of the insurance quarter. The Commissioners will be prepared to consider the question of supplying thirteen-week stamps under proper safeguards to employers who could use them, if there is evidence that they would be of general convenience.

Mr. JONATHAN SAMUEL

Will the same rule be applied to domestic servants?

Mr. MASTERMAN

It will apply just as much to employers of domestic servants as to any other employers.
