§ 2. Lord C. BERESFORD
asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he can now inform the House when he will be able to state the amount of increased pay for the officers and men of the Fleet I foreshadowed in his remarks on the 20th March, 1912; whether he intends to take 325 into consideration the fact that soldiers and marines are granted a free kit and free annual issue of clothing, whereas the petty officers and men of the Navy, so far as new entries only are concerned, are granted a free kit on joining but no annual free issue of clothing afterwards; and whether he can now see his way to grant a free kit and free annual issue of clothing to petty officers and men of the Navy as is the case with all ranks in the Army and Marines?
§ Mr. CHURCHILL
I am unable to make any statement at the present time. The matter is now under consideration.
