HC Deb 07 October 1912 vol 42 c25
Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

I desire to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty a question of which I have given him private notice, namely: Whether he can give the House any information as to the loss of the Submarine "B2."?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Dr. Macnamara)

The circumstances attending this distressing accident will form the subject of inquiry at the earliest possible moment, pending which it would be premature to make any further statement on the subject of responsibility for the accident. I desire to express our deep sense of the loss we have sustained in the death of these gallant men, and to convey our deep sympathy and condolence with their relatives.

Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

Is proper provision being made for the wives and families of the men who have lost their lives in the service of the country?

Dr. MACNAMARA

We have a scheme. It will be applied.

Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

My point was whether they will receive relief immediately.

Dr. MACNAMARA

I will naturally take care there is no delay.
