HC Deb 07 October 1912 vol 42 c31
Mr. BONAR LAW

May I ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he can state the course of business for this week?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Lloyd George)

In the absence of the Prime Minister, who is unavoidably absent owing to a slight indisposition, I have to say that to-day we shall take the discussion in regard to the "Titanic" disaster, and we hope also the Motion for the appointment of an additional judge.

To-morrow and Wednesday: The Report and Third Reading of the Temperance (Scotland) Bill, and for this purpose we shall suspend the Eleven o'clock Rule on both nights.

On Thursday, we shall submit to the House a Resolution allocating time for the consideration of the Government of Ireland Bill, and a second Resolution giving precedence to Government business for the remainder of the Session.

On Friday, a Motion will be submitted by the Postmaster-General for the appointment of a Select Committee to consider the Marconi contract, in terms similar to those standing on the Paper in the names of the hon. Member for Chippenham Division of Wiltshire (Mr. George Terrell), and the hon. Member for Bow and Bromley (Mr. Lansbury).

Lord BALCARRES

On the point of the business for Friday, will the Motion for a Select Committee be drawn in such a way as to allow the House an opportunity of discussing the general merits of the agreement, otherwise there will be no opportunity of discussing the agreement in the House until the Report of the Select Committee is presented?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

If the Noble Lord will look at the Motion standing in the name of one of his own friends, which we propose to adopt, he will see that it gives the widest scope for discussing every topic.
