HC Deb 28 November 1912 vol 44 c1481
72. Sir WALTER NUGENT

asked whether, in view of the fact that there is no official collection of postage stamps in Ireland other than that of the National Museum, in Kildare Street, Dublin, the Postmaster-General will give directions that one set of the postage stamps and postal stationery, marked specimen, out of the five sets received by his Department from the International Postal Bureau, Berne, shall be allocated to Ireland; and that the set so allocated shall be for warded to the Irish Museum referred to for inclusion in the Leinster collection of postage stamps, which is kept there?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

The specimen postage stamps and postal stationery-received at the General Post Office from the International Bureau of the Postal Union are intended for purposes of official record and reference. The British Museum is not supplied with such stamps; and I do not, therefore, think that any exception should be made in favour of the Irish Museum referred to by the hon. Member.
