HC Deb 28 November 1912 vol 44 c1485
80. Sir GILBERT PARKER

asked whether the Government will enter into communication with the protected princes of the native States inviting them to put in force the British Copyright Act, so making complete provision against piracy in British India?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Harold Baker)

The Secretary of State will consult the Government of India on the question of approaching the Rulers of native States which are not part of British India.

Mr. BOOTH

Is the hon. Member aware that the Eastern races have priceless classics of their own, and does he consider it a right use of Government power to push the business of any rich publishers in London among a poverty-stricken population?

Mr. HAROLD BAKER

The hon. Member had better address his question to the Secretary of State.
