§ 85. Mr. WRIGHTasked on what grounds it has been decided to do away with the existing arrangement under which a branch office of the Official Receiver in bankruptcy was maintained at Derby, and to remove all bankruptcy business arising in the county of Derbyshire and the borough of Derby to Nottingham; whether notice of such decision was published; and, if so, where and when; and whether, in view of the inconvenience and expense entailed upon all parties concerned and resident in and to the north, south, and west of Derby, the right hon. Gentleman will reconsider his decision?
Mr. BUXTONSuch a transfer has temporarily been made owing to the recent necessity of surrendering the bankruptcy offices occupied at Derby. Those in the district professionally interested were notified by the Official Receiver. It is possible that permanent concentration of the Official Receiver's staff might conduce to economy and efficiency of administration. Strong representations have, however, been made to the Board as to the desira- 1487 bility of maintaining a branch office at Derby, and I am considering the possibility of reopening such an office when the necessary premises can be found.
