HC Deb 26 November 1912 vol 44 c1012
76. Mr. GILL

asked the Home Secretary if the conferences between factory inspectors, employers, and operatives in the cotton trade on the questions of fencing and cleaning machinery, etc., have been concluded; whether there are any conferences arranged in other trades, and, if so, in which trades; and whether any of these conferences have met?

Mr. McKENNA

The conferences in the cotton-spinning trade were concluded last March, and a report of the result has been published and issued to the parties concerned. I have directed a copy of the report to be sent to my hon. Friend. A similar series of conferences in respect of the woollen and worsted industries will shortly be concluded at Bradford; and another series, dealing with cotton weaving, was commenced at Blackburn on the 6th instant. Conferences respecting iron foundries will commence at Manchester en 10th December next.
