HC Deb 26 November 1912 vol 44 c993
28. Sir REGINALD POLE-CAREW

asked what is the average length of training necessary to make a horse efficient in Cavalry, Horse Artillery, Field Artillery, Howitzer and heavy batteries, Mounted Infantry, and other mounted units respectively?

Colonel SEELY

It is impracticable to lay down any definite period for such training, as the time necessary depends upon the horse's age, condition, and temperament, and the facilities for training. In the Artillery, I am advised, that a seasoned horse can take its place in the team practically at once.

Sir R. POLE-CAREW

Does that apply to Horse and Field Artillery?

Colonel SEELY

That is the advice I am given, that a seasoned horse can be put in almost at once.
