HC Deb 25 November 1912 vol 44 cc806-7
69. Mr. SHIRLEY BENN

asked the right hon. Gentleman if he inquired from the Welsh Insurance Commissioners as to the number of letters in English and in Welsh, respectively, sent out by the Commission from its formation up to 1st November; and, if he did, and was supplied with the actual figures, will he state them?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I have nothing to add to the answer I gave the hon. Gentle-tleman on the 20th instant.

Mr. SHIRLEY BENN

If the right hon. Gentleman did get it, why did he refuse to give it to the House?

Mr. MASTERMAN

It would be most improper for me to communicate to the hon. Gentleman inter-departmental correspondence.

70. Mr. SHIRLEY BENN

asked the right hon. Gentleman if he will issue a memorandum stating the cities and towns to which the persons, respectively, belonged who have been appointed as officials by the Welsh Insurance Commissioners?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I am doubtful if such a return would serve any useful purpose proportionate to the labour involved in its preparation.

Mr. SHIRLEY BENN

Does the right hon. Gentleman realise that I asked that question on the 20th, but that he skilfully avoided answering it?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I have given a very categorical answer at present. If the hon. Gentleman in communication with me will explain what good purpose it will serve I will consider the question.
