HC Deb 25 November 1912 vol 44 c812
54. Mr. GINNELL

asked, having regard to the undertaking of the Unionist Government in 1903 that the bonus of £12,000,000 then provided by Parliament for landlords selling estates in Ireland, in addition to the price, and of the Liberal Government in 1909, when increasing this bonus to £18,000,000, that, while Ireland should be held liable for the price of the land, with interest, the bonus in excess of price should be an Imperial and not an Irish charge, if he will say in what way, in the Government of Ireland Bill or otherwise, those undertakings are to be carried out?

Mr. BIRRELL

The bonus charges will be borne by the Exchequer of the United Kingdom, and will not be deducted from the Transferred Sum.
