HC Deb 25 November 1912 vol 44 c826
Sir JOHN LONSDALE

I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs a question, of which I have given private notice, namely, whether he has received any information with regard to the reported closing of the Dardanelles?

Mr. ACLAND

We have received no information in confirmation of the report.

Sir J. LONSDALE

May I ask whether it is possible that the Dardanelles may have been closed without the Foreign Office being advised of it?

Mr. ACLAND

I am sure that we should have been advised as soon as possible. In a previous ease we were advised very shortly after the event.
