HC Deb 21 November 1912 vol 44 c461
66. Mr. HORNER

asked the Postmaster-General whether officers, notably those transferred from the ex-National Telephone Company, who have been accepted as pensionable officers of the Crown since the passing of the 1909 Superannuation Act, but whose pensionable service counts from a period anterior to that date, will, in the event of the Government of Ireland Bill becoming law and their Department transferred to the Irish Government, be entitled to claim the right of choice regarding terms of retirement, as is provided in paragraph 1, Sub-section (e), of the rules governing retirement of established officers of the Crown under the statutory terms of the Third Schedule to the Bill?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

Officers who have entered the Civil Service since the passing of the Superannuation Act of 1909, whether on transfer from the National Telephone Company's service or otherwise, and whether in Great Britain or in Ireland, come under the provisions of that Act, and have no option of choosing the terms of the earlier Acts. The Government of Ireland Bill effects no change in this respect.
