HC Deb 19 November 1912 vol 44 c104
38. Sir J. D. REES

asked the Prime Minister whether, under the Government of Ireland Bill it is competent to the Irish Parliament to give Grants-in-Aid to Irish lace manufacturers, of the same character as the Grants now made in aid of tobacco cultivation; and whether it is proposed to continue annually to re-enact the Textile Manufacturers (Ireland) Act of 1840 if the Government of Ireland Bill becomes law?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Asquith)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As to the second part of the question, the continuance or amendment of the Textile Manufacturers (Ireland) Act, 1840, will, after the appointed day, be a matter which may be dealt with by the Irish Parliament.
