§ 66. Mr. BRIDGEMANasked whether, in the new superannuation scheme for English teachers, those teachers who accepted the Act of 1898 and retired under compulsion before 31st March, 1912, will receive the benefits of the new scheme?
§ Mr. J. A. PEASEThe Elementary School Teachers (Superannuation) Act, 1912, refers only to teachers in recorded service on the 31st March, last. I have, however, asked a Departmental Committee to advise me whether the money at my disposal will be exhausted by the improvements made by the Act, and, if not, to consider (inter alia) proposals for improving the position of teachers who retired before the 1st April, 1912.
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANWill the right hon. Gentleman say when we shall have the result of that inquiry?
§ Mr. PEASEThe Committee is at present sitting taking evidence, and it is anticipated the Report will be ready in time for me to introduce legislation next Session.
