HC Deb 21 May 1912 vol 38 c1726
Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any official information with regard to the proceedings which have taken place in the Spitzbergen Conference; and what result, if any, has been arrived at by that conference?

Sir E. GREY

As a result of a preliminary conference, at which the Governments, of Norway, Russia, and Sweden were represented, a draft Convention respecting Spitzbergen was prepared and communicated to the Powers interested for their consideration. The several Governments are now engaged in examining the provisions of this draft Convention, and pending that I cannot say what result maybe arrived at.
