asked the number of young men over the age of twenty in the year 1910 in Germany, in France, and in the United Kingdom, respectively; and what was the total number enrolled in each country in that year for naval and military training?

The numbers who arrived at the age of twenty in 1910 and the numbers who were enrolled for naval and military training were approximately as follow:—

Germany 540,000 285,000 (excluding Land-sturm and Ersatz Reserve)
France 316,000 290,000
United Kingdom 397,000 88,000
