HC Deb 21 May 1912 vol 38 cc1734-5
Mr. HUNT

asked the total strength of the French Colonial Army, counting white troops only, but including those serving in France and in all French oversea possessions; and whether the men for the French Colonial Army are raised by voluntary enlistment?

Colonel SEELY

The total strength is 50,302. The men are recruited by voluntary enlistment, but if enough men are not obtained by voluntary enlistment the deficiency may be made good by allotting to the Colonial Army in France recruits from the annual contingent.
