HC Deb 13 May 1912 vol 38 cc783-4
Mr. DOUGLAS HALL

asked the Home Secretary if he can say when it is intended to distribute to the police of the provinces entitled thereto the Coronation medals to which they are entitled; and what is the reason of the delay in giving these medals?

Mr. McKENNA

As I stated in reply to a question by the hon. Member for the Chippenham Division on 25th April, I am informed that these medals will probably be ready for distribution in two or three weeks' time. The delay has been due to pressure of work at the Mint.

Mr. DOUGLAS HALL

Did not the right hon. Gentleman inform the House that he hoped to issue the medals early this year?

Mr. McKENNA

I do not remember making that promise, but I accept the statement of the hon. Gentleman. On 25th April I informed the House that I hoped to issue them in five weeks, and I make the same reply now. It will take five weeks from the end of April.
